Mark Chapter
14
Jesus
before Caiaphas
55: Now the chief priests and the whole council
sought testimony
against Jesus to put him to death; but they found none.
56: For many bore false witness against him, and their
witness did not agree.
57: And some stood up and bore false witness against him,
saying,
58: "We heard him say, `I will destroy this temple that is
made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with
hands.'"
59: Yet not even so did their testimony agree.
60: And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked
Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify
against you?"
61: But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high
priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
62: And Jesus said, "I am; and you will see the Son of man
seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of
heaven."
63: And the high priest tore his garments, and said, "Why
do we still need witnesses?
64: You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?"
And they all condemned him as deserving death.
65: And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face,
and to strike him, saying to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received
him with blows.
Matthew Chapter 27
delivered him
to Pilate the governor.
1: When morning came, all the chief priests and the
elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death;
2: and they bound him and led him away and delivered him
to Pilate the governor.
3: When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he
repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and the elders,
4: saying, "I have sinned in betraying innocent blood."
They said, "What is that to us? See to it yourself."
5: And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple,
he departed; and he went and hanged himself.
6: But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver,
said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are
blood money."
7: So they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's
field, to bury strangers in.
8: Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood
to this day.
9: Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet
Jeremiah, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price
of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel,
10: and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord
directed me."
John
Chapter 18
Jesus at trial before Pontius Pilate
29: So Pilate went out to them and said, "What
accusation
do you bring against this man?"
30: They answered him, "If this man were not an evildoer,
we would not have handed him over."
31: Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and judge
him by your own law." The Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to
put any man to death."
32: This was to fulfil the word which Jesus had spoken to
show by what death he was to die.
33: Pilate entered the praetorium again and called Jesus,
and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
34: Jesus answered, "Do you say this of your own accord,
or did others say it to you about me?"
35: Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the
chief priests have handed you over to me; what have you done?"
36: Jesus answered, "My kingship is not of this world; if
my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might
not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world."

37: Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus
answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this
I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who
is of the truth hears my voice."
38: Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" After he had said
this, he went out to the Jews again, and told them, "I find no crime in
him.
John Chapter 19
Jesus was scoured at the Pillar
1: Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him.
2: And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed
him
in a purple robe;
3: they came up to him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
and struck him with their hands.
Mark 15
Jesus was crowned with Thorns
16: And the soldiers led
him away inside the palace
(that is, the praetorium);
and they called together the whole battalion.
17: And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and plaiting a
crown of thorns they put it on him.
18: And they began to salute him, "Hail, King of the
Jews!"
19: And they struck his head with a reed, and spat upon
him, and they knelt down in homage to him.
John Chapter 19
Ecce Homo Behold the Man
5: So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns
and the
purple robe. Pilate said to them, "Behold the man!"
8: When Pilate heard these words, he was the more afraid;
9: he entered the praetorium again and said to Jesus,
"Where are you from?" But Jesus gave no answer.
10: Pilate therefore said to him, "You will not speak to
me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to
crucify you?"
11: Jesus answered him, "You would have no power over me
unless it had been given you from above; therefore he who delivered me
to you has the greater sin."
John Chapter 18
Release Barabbas
39: But you have a custom that I should release
one man
for you at the Passover; will you have me release for you the King of
the Jews?"
40: They cried out again, "Not this man, but Barab'bas!"
Now Barab'bas was a robber.
Luke Chapter 23
"Crucify,
crucify him!"

18: But they all cried out together, "Away with this man,
and release to us Barab'bas" --
19: a man who had been thrown into prison for an
insurrection started in the city, and for murder.
20: Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release
Jesus;
21: but they shouted out, "Crucify, crucify him!"

Luke 23
23: But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that
he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
24: So Pilate gave sentence that their demand should be
granted.
25: He released the man who had been thrown into prison
for insurrection and murder, whom they asked for; but Jesus he
delivered up to their will.
Mark Chapter 15
20: And when they had mocked him, they stripped him
of the
purple cloak, and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to
crucify him.
